South End Assassins Youth Rugby Program
The club is proud to carry on the work Alumni Chris Chapman started over a decade ago. Chris
aimed to establish a grassroots youth rugby program to help grow the game in the province of Manitoba and create a better pathway for young athletes to become lifelong rugby players.
Chris ran the program
under the name of the South End Rugby Football Club (SERFC) and with his ties to the Assassins; the club assisted in helping with the program over the years it was running. The Assassins RFC is now fully running this youth program and we carry on part of the name and the mission started by Chris to honor
the work he has done to grow the sport of rugby for the future!
We’re excited to welcome a strong group of boys and girls across both our non-contact and intro-to-contact divisions, as the program continues to grow in both numbers and vision.
This year’s theme is Connection Through Fair Play. By embracing a shared theme, we aim to unify our athletes around a common goal while reinforcing respect, sportsmanship, and teamwork. With nearly 40 kids already registered, there’s still time to sign up and get involved in the amazing sport of rugby!
Coaching staff
Leading the program this year is Head Coach Caleb Stick, who brings over 20 years of playing and coaching experience to the field. Caleb’s leadership, knowledge of the game, and passion for developing young athletes set the tone for a fun, safe, and competitive environment.
He’s supported by an outstanding coaching group including Shane Nobiss, David Letain, Rachel Machnicki, and Lauren Greschuk. This group brings a great mix of experience, energy, and dedication—focused on teaching fundamentals, building confidence, and making sure every player feels included and supported. From first-time players learning the basics to those ready to take the next step into contact rugby, our coaches are committed to helping each athlete grow both on and off the field.
