Current and Prospective Assassin Player Information

Who can be an Assassins Player?

Any female or male older than 18 years old* that meets the following criteria:

  1. Attend practices, games and social events.
  2. Pay player dues: Approx. $175 for 2016
  3. Pay Rugby Manitoba and Rugby Canada insurance fee: Approx. $125 for 2016
    (Player dues and Rugby Canada Insurance are paid at the start of the season through and online system. See online registration section below.)
  • The Assassins RFC roster/membership is largely made up of players developed in high schools coached by current Assassins and Assassins Alumni. The club is committed to developing local Canadian talent starting at the grassroots level. The club has produced players that have moved on to represent their province, region and country at various levels.
  • The Assassins RFC accepts all new members regardless of rugby experience and sporting background as long as the player/member meets the 3 necessary criteria.
  • The Assassins RFC does not actively recruit players from overseas. However, players from overseas/ imports are welcome to join on their own accord. Housing and/or employment is the responsibility of the player. The club may assist in this regard, but will not be relied upon. The Assassins RFC currently have players/members from countries such as New Zealand, Wales and South Africa.

FAQ and Information

  • The Assassins RFC currently fields one Womens team and a Mens Division 1 and Division 2 team. With the return of the U21 Colts League the club plans to field one Womens 7’s team and two Mens 7’s teams.
  • All home games and the majority of games are played at Maple Grove Rugby Park in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
  • Away games are played throughout various locations in Manitoba such as Brandon, Minnedosa and Steinbach. Carpools are generally organized for these trips.
  • Mens practices are located at Churchill Drive and Casey Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Maple Grove Rugby Park. Womens practice location TBA.
  • Train regularly during the season and the offseason. Starting line ups and playing time decisions are largely based on fitness levels.
  • If you are unavailable for a practice or game pleases inform your coach and/or captain(s).
  • The Assassins RFC is a tight-knit club that embodies camaraderie and unity. Players/members are encouraged to participate in all team activities including social events, fundraisers and getting involved with the club’s executive.
  • The Assassins RFC kit is white rugby shorts, white or Assassins(royal) blue compression shorts and white socks. All players are expected to have the aforementioned kit on game days.

*Players under the age of 18 and older than 16 can apply with Rugby Manitoba for an underage exemption to player Senior Rugby.

All players are required to register through the Rugby Canada online system. You will be able to pay both your registration fee and your club dues online.
